McGrath conquers Cape perimeter, hosts exhibit at National Seashore

On any given day, check in with Mark McGrath of Harwich, and the chances are pretty good that he’s out hiking somewhere.

The 75-year-old Harwich resident, who retired to the Cape 13 years ago, hits the trails often either by himself or with local hiking clubs. McGrath and his wife, Patti, have even hiked the entire perimeter of Cape Cod over a three and half year period from 2012 to 2015.

“Where did you start? Where did you finish? Where’d you stay overnight?” are some of the questions he gets hit with.

“Everything was a day trip,” replies McGrath, who will be presenting a talk and gallery photograph exhibit, “Exploring the Outer Cape,” on Sunday at the Cape Cod National Seashore’s Salt Pond Visitors Center in Eastham.

The exhibit, which runs through March, features 35 photographs that were selected to share Cape Cod experiences.
